Merhba e Bem Vindos!

Welcome to the new website of the Embassy of Malta in Portugal. This Embassy was established in the beginning of 2007. It is located in the centre of Lisbon, on the 5th floor of Condominium No.49, facing Avenida de Liberdade, one the main avenues in the city of Lisbon. The historical link between Malta and Portugal dates back to 1722 when Antonio Manoel de Vilhena, Grand Master of the Knights, ruled over Malta. He was later succeeded by Grandmaster Manoel Pinto de Fonseca in 1741. Both Portuguese Grandmasters left impressive buildings on the island, one of which is the Manoel Theatre, which is reputed to be the world’s third-oldest working theatre and which is now Malta’s National Theatre. Thus the Maltese and Portuguese share strong historical links and this Embassy aims to further strengthen ties with Portugal.

We hope that you will find valuable information about travelling and doing business in Malta. This site also provides information about our Consulates in Tavira, Porto, Lisbon and The Autonomous Regions of the Azores.
